Dimension 2400 CDRW or DVDRW drive

I have a Dimension 2400 with Windows XP.  It has a Samsung CD-R/RW SW-252S drive right now.  I am having problems trying to get the drive open to insert disks.  I would like to replace the drive with a new one.  Is this easy to do?  I have not done this before.  What would be a good drive to get to replace the Samsung. I would like to have a DVDRW drive, but a CDRW drive is fine.

Help please!

Yes, very easy. Simply search this forum and you'll find many, many posts that include instructions.

A DVD writer is so cheap, it's hardly worth getting just a CD-RW. Go to www.newegg.com for many good deals on DVD writers.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was on www.newegg.com, but I wasn't sure which DVD writer to get. This one was rated highly according to customer reviews.

Will it work in my Dimesion 2400? Do I need to buy anything else to install it?

Anyone have an opinion of a good DVD burner for a Dimension 2400?

The one you gave a link to will not work. Your system takes IDE drives. This Philips drive includes software. That would be my recommendation.

Thanks for the advice. I had no idea which drive to get.
