Error code 2000-0142 Hard Drive 0 - S/N WCB13C16 Short self test unsuccessful
Our laptop will not boot up. It winds up running an automated diagnostic that returns the information in the subject line. It is under warranty, but (of course) the ability to log a support case is prevented since that capability requires that the process of logging the support case run a diagnostic on the system. However, it is not possible to be logging in and logging a support case on a system that cannot boot up! Very annoying.
Please advise.

All you need is that error code (2000-0142) followed by the validation code on the screen. Report those to Dell and they'll replace the drive - you can simply call with that information.
