External HardDrive for Storing Games, ESATA vs USB 3?

Hi all, i have recently bought a DELL XPS15 laptop which has USB 3 and ESATA ports. it has a 750GB6 SATA Internal Hard Drive (7200RPM) installed in it. but i want to use that for all my media/programing files. i dont want to use all my internal space for games.

so my qustions are:

can you install games on an External USB 3 or ESATA Drive??

If so which is best? USB 3 or ESATA???

will the be a performence or FPS Drop from installing the games on Either of the above vs an internal HDD??

and would the be any other problems that i might incounter from doing any of the above??

Thanks Heaps to anyone who can help

Cheers CoreyB
