Hard Drive Failure (WD Blue) in Inspiron 660 workstation

A computer was purchased probably a year and a half ago. The computer is used at a church for presentations. All of a sudden, the computer started slowing down and eventually was not able to get past the Dell screen at startup.

The hard drive was removed and WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics was ran on the drive. Quick test on the the hard drive returns with the error code 07 (READ ELEMENT FAILURE).

This computer is out of warranty and this hard drive is not covered under Western Digital warranty. How do I go about this situation?

Is this 1TB hard drive a throwaway?

Yes, as the warranty was provided by Dell and unless you have a Dell warranty in effect, then the 1tb hard drive is a 'throwaway' and you need to buy the replacement drive yourself.

Luckily a 1tb SATA 3.5" internal hard drive is not expensive, a Western Digital 7200rpm 1tb HD with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty, can be purchased for $52.99 from here:
