Hitachi DVD Driver

Help,

I am running windows 98se on a Dimension XPS T600. I messed up the driver for my hitachi gd-5000 DVD-ROM. I know where to find the driver on the Dell Resource CD. It is located at DRIVERS\WIN98\5824T, but this folder only contains the file hit-dvd.sys. Windows is looking for a *.inf file. I dl and installed the hitdvd.exe from hitachi's website but that only fixes it in DOS. Right now I am using the Hitachi GD-2000 driver and autorun won't work. If anyone could send my a link for the driver or how to get windows to use the .sys file, or any help at all, please reply.

Thank You,
msharlow

This came from another poster:
www.hitachi.com/storage/support/cd_dvd_step3_frame.html

I found a GD5000 driver there and a .pdf manual (Adobe format).

Godd luck,
David
