How do I add a 3rd HDD to my XPS 8500?

Hi All,

I want to add a 3rd HDD to my XPS 8500, but the manual seems to indicate the hard drive cage the PC ships with can accommodate 2 HDDs only. How do I find a larger capacity cage? Is there a certain type thereof I should get?

Thanks in advance,

Judah

Hi Judah,

XPS 8500 is shipped with a 'hard drive bay' that can only accommodate maximum of two 3.5inch hard drives. (Refer to the image below)

However, you may want to utilize unused space underneath the optical drive and add another 'SATA hard drive' in place of the secondary 'optical drive'.
(Refer to the image below)

I was researching on the requirement and found that you may use a '5.25 inch SATA hard drive docking station' to use an additional 3.5 inch SATA hard drive.
(Please refer to the image below)

Hope this helps. Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.
