Install a new SSD disc in a some years old Dell Optiplex 780 SSF
I am going to buy a used Dell 780 SSF.
I just wonder if it is possible and if I need something else to mount it in the 780.
A rack of some kind ?
And where I get the things that are necessary ?
Best regards

Hi Dodo,
I believe the 780 SFF takes a conventional 3.5" hard drive, not the smaller 2.5" laptop hard drive. There are plenty of adapters that will allow you to fit an SSD in a 3.5" HDD bay.

Thanks
Is it possible to have both the original harddisc and then add a new ssd-disc ?
Is there space enough for them both ?
Regards

Only if you remove or disconnect the optical drive- these have only two SATA connectors on the mainboard.

Hi
I bought a used Dell Optiplex SFF 755 with a SSD disc.
It was OK but I think it was a little hot and a little bit to NOISY.
Unfortunately it stopped working after two weeks. It was not posibly to start. Nothing happened when we pressed the on /off button.
We could send it back and got the money back.
Now I wonder if an Optiplex 780 perhaps is a more stable maschine and perhaps a little less noisy ?
If you could recommend some other Pc that is more silent it would be nice.
