Installing Maxtor SATA Hard Drive on 8400
Just installed Maxtor 500GB as an additional drive on my Dimension 8400.
At first it was not seen at all in the Windows Disk Management Utility.
Then I enabled SATA 2 in the BIOS and it appeared.
But when I right-click on the drive to initialize it, only the Properties options appears.
I tried to install the SATA drivers from the Maxtor CD, but when Windows searched the WINXP folder, it gave me the message, "sorry but we could not find a driver better than the one installed" (it is dated 2001!). So I couldn't even select one of the drivers as directed in the Maxtor install guide.
Someone posted a link to the Intel site for a SATA driver but I can't find it.
The install instructions say to F6 with a floppy. But I don't have a floppy drive; so if I have to go that route, how do I install the SATA driver with a CD-ROM?
Thanks
