Is My DVD Drive Dual Layer (Revised)

Hi,
Im wondering how you can tell if your DVD Drive Combo has the ability to write to Dual Layer Dvd's.  I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 with a NR319 ASSEMBLY, DVD+/-RW, 8X, HITACHI LG DATA STORAGE, SULLIVAN/TOBAGO

Dvd Drive.  I thought it was a dual layer when i purcahsed the laptop but there arent any marking indicating that it is and I didnt want to spend the money on the Media unless i could use it.  Any help would be appreciated!

Look in the Device Manager .........

Start | Control Panel | System in classic view | Hardware tab | Device Manager

Click on the (+) next to DVD/CD-ROM drives.  This will reveal the Brand and Model of
drive.  Please post that.

Hi, the Device Manager states the DVD drive is a: HL-DL-ST DVD+-RW GSA-T11 ATA Device.  i checed the Driver and it appears that it is using a Microsoft Driver Dated 6/21/2006.

Hi Skybird

My Latitude D630 has model HL-D T-ST DVD +-RW GSA-T11N. Is this also double layer?
What is the difference vs. HS-D S-ST mentioned in the OP?

Thx!
