Looking for drivers ...
I have an older Dell Dimension E510. I have lost the ability to access the DVD/CD drive which came with my system. I would like to update/repair/replace the software drivers, but am unable to locate a source for them. The drive is a "Philips DVD + RW DVD8701". I contacted Philips, but they advise that this is an "OEM" drive and that I had to contact the system provider. I have searched the Dell support site (i.e. Driver Home) but am unable to find drivers for this DVD.
Any suggestions??

Usually no special drivers are need for optical drives. Is it recognized in Device Manager but marked as no driver? Is it recognized by the BIOS?

I have an E510. What is the status of the drive in the Device Manager? Does it show an error code? or does it show "working properly"?
