Manually recorded CD-R not recognised

I just purchased an Inspiron 1525 running Vista™.  My manually recorded audio CD's are not being recognized.  The PBDS DVD+-RW DS-8W1P ATA Device is showing the tape as blank.  Commericial CD's & DVD's work fine.

This is what my system information shows under CD-ROM:

Drive    E:
Description    CD-ROM Drive
Media Loaded    No
Media Type    UNKNOWN
Name    PBDS DVD+-RW DS-8W1P ATA Device
Manufacturer    (Standard CD-ROM drives)
Status    OK
Transfer Rate    -1.00 kbytes/sec
SCSI Target ID    0
PNP Device ID    IDE\CDROMPBDS_DVD+-RW_DS-8W1P____________________BD1B____\5&D09E5D4&0&0.0.0
Driver    c:\windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys (6.0.6001.18000, 65.50 KB (67,072 bytes), 1/20/2008 7:23 PM)

My old Dell Inspiron 1000 had "yes" under Media loaded & Media type as "CD-ROM".

Is there a fix for this?  Or am I out of luck with my old audio CD's?
