Mx18 and sata II or Sata III
hopefully someone can point me in the right direction on this. I am about to buy a couple of ssd drives for my alienware mx18 and do not know if the laptop supports sata II or sata III drives?
How can I go about determining if which one my current configuration supports?
I looked at the invoice and I could not tell which it was?
Any suggestions on how to determine the answer to this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Seth,
Alienware M18X supports SATA II drives. You will need to purchase SATA II SSD’s for the laptop.
Please let me know if you need further information.

The system uses an HM67 chipset, which fully supports SATA 6G.

Conflicting answers! I looked up the chipset, and it does state that it supports sata speeds on two ports at 6.0 gb. So based on that one would say sata 3 correct?

Hi Darvenus,
I apologize for providing the incorrect information. The system supports SATA 3 and ejn63 has provided the correct information. However, it is offered with SATA 2 HDD and SATA 3 SSDs.

So could we purchase a SATA 3 for the Alienware 18x? Is there an additional HDD/SDD bay? I'm assuming there is, but I do not know for sure. What are the restrictions on what will be compatable?
Thank you for your time.
