My Dell XPS 17 (L702x) notebook not recognise a Samsung 840 pro SSD

Hello,

I'm just purchasing my first SSD for my Dell XPS 17 (L702x) notebook (8T7CQS1). I've successfully installed the Samsung 840 pro (MZ-7PD256BW) to the secondary HDD slot of XPS, but the BIOS doesn't detected anything as second HDD.

My BIOS version is the latest one: A19 (10/26/2012), I tried to load default settings of BIOS, but no change.

SATA mode in BIOS is AHCI.

What could I do with them?

Thanks, if you can help me,

Kris

Hi Kris,

Try pulling drive 1 out and putting the SSD into that slot. Then boot to the BIOS to see if the drive is detected.

Glad that helped.

Thanks Osprey for your reply!

Yes I can solve this problem with some pulling off and putting in movements. :) Now it's working perfectly in HDD2 slot as primary boot disk. But I don't know why my notebook didn't detect it for the first trying...

Anyway thanks for your tip! ;)
