New DVD installed NO audio
Just installed a new Sony DVD RW in my trusty 8100 their is audio on CD but no sound when playing a DVD I forgot to install the analog connector, thought that was the problem, since I didn;t have a spare cable I used the connector from the internal modem (which I dont use anyway)removed it from the modem & the current green connector on the sound card & plugged it into the DVD & the open white connector on the sound card(which is the original SB sound card)& still no audio I checked all the audio settings in control panel, nothing was muted also no problems in device mgr. So I didnt know if it could be the sound card or a setting I may have missed any help would be appreciated Thanks Dave

Hi Davfu,
The audio should play digitally through the IDE cable, the analogue is not needed.
Under properties for the drive, make sure there is a check mark in the box: "Enable digital audio for this CD device".
Best Regards!
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.
