ROXIO

I have a Dell 2350 which came with Roxio software.

I bought the upgrade today but it won't complete the install until I give it the "cd key " located on the back of the case.

I never had a Roxio cd . The software was already installed.

Any suggestions as to what I can/should do and how I can get the "key"?

Thanks,  Ian

I'm a little confused.  If you bought an upgrade, which I assume is the new V7, The CD key came with the software (usually on the CD envelope).  If did a download, you should have got the key as part of the download.

Either way, you should have the Roxio Key.

Most of the Dell machines I have seen with Roxio EZ CD creator pre-installed also came with a re-installation disk.

If you are having problems upgrading an existing installation, then dig out all of your original disks, and try either:
- uninstall and remove any traces of the installed application, reboot, then try to install from the "Upgrade" source.  It may ask you to put in your old disk just to verify that you are really upgrading.
- if that won't work, reinstall the base application from CD, then try the upgrade again.

According to Roxio support, your upgrade should have come with its own key - double check your shipping invoice or your confirmation email and see if that has any software keys or serial number references.  If you need the original key, you will need the original installation disks.

Roxio should be able to support anything more complicated than this.  http://www.roxio.com/en/support/contact/index.jhtml

One other thought, after discussing this with another forumite.  If you bought the new Roxio and were expecting the Dell OEM version to be a qualifying product for an upgrade rebate, it isn't.  The OEM versions, such as the Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic supplied by Dell with many PC's, the the OEM versions supplied by some CD Burner drive manufacturers with their CD Drives are not a qualifying product.  You have to have a Retail version (e.g. Roxio Easy CD Cretor 5 PLATINUM) to be a qualifying product for the upgrade rebate.
