Second HD for Inspiron 620

I'd like to add a second HD (one TB size) to my Inspiron 620 to eventually contain Win 10. Current HD (primary 'C' drive)  is only 500 GB and will become "secondary" drive after upgrade.

(1) are there any restrictions to prevent this config from working as planned ?

(2) any tips for converting from one HD to two to minimize risk ?

Thanx.

ps: i understand that even tho SATA 3 devices are used performance will be limited to SATA 2 speeds - TRUE ?

There should be a second set of rails for the drive already inside the case - you'll need a new 3.5" SATA drive and a SATA cable for it.

When you load Windows onto the drive, make sure the original drive is disconnected from the system.

For any spinning hard drive, the difference between SATA 3G and 6G is a moot point unless you're striping across a multi-drive array.  No mechanical hard drive can come close to 3G/s let alone 6G -- that's the province of solid state drives.

Hello: Thanx for the quick response. My main concern is possible incompatibility since the new HD will be 1 TB vs original HD which is only 500 GB. Will entire 1 TB be accessed ?
