Swapping HDD for a SSD
Swapping my HDD for a SSD
Dear Folks;
I just recently bought a SSD from Dell to swap with my failing HDD on my 1558 Studio, Windows 7, 64bit.
What I needed to know is will the system image be sufficient enough to transfer all the files and program, plus OS onto the SSD. As far as disk space is concerned, I have more than enough to copy onto.
I'm concerned about Microsoft not validating the Windows 7 transfer? I also have a OS disk that Dell sent to me. Would it be better to use that instead of system image?
I thought that I would make sure that I am doing this right when the time comes-any day now.
Thanks for your time.

You have to install windows from installation media and then reinstall all your programs and files. System images are only for reinstalling on the same disk or a same size disk. There is no problem with the license. It is for the computer not the hard drive. Reactivating should not be a problem but you might have to speak to a person to explain the disk replacement.
