Trouble installing SDD with HDD on Inspiron 3847 tower PC

Hi - I want to install a SSD (Samsung 840 EVO 120GB) as my primary drive and use the HDD as secondary.

After I screwed in the SDD, I see that the power cable is too short to reach both the SDD and HDD :emotion-6:

Any suggestions? Can I mount the SDD in the free optical bay and use the extra optical power cable? The SATA data cable will reach the motherboard, so only a question of power.

Also, does it matter which SATA port on the motherboard I plug the data cable for the SSD into?

Many thanks,

AK

Tech at store I bought PC from suggested using a SATA Y-Power splitter to extend the cable. Sounds like the easiest solution.

I also have a Dell Inspiron 3847

Where did you purchase your SSD adapter Bracket and the name of bracket. I purchased two SSD brackets from Newegg, Evercool and when you put the Slides off the Hard drives on the SSD adapter it will not slide back in the drive bay. It is about 1/16 inch two large. If you try and force it in the bay you can`t get it back out..

Please reply.
