Upgrade of Aurora Desktop with SSD as boot drive

I have an Alienware Aurora Desktop, of the following spec;

Alienware Aurora(D00AWA01) Standard Cosmic Black Chassis, Windows 7 64 bit, Product code 301719, SKU 210-29897
Intel Core i7 960 (3.2GHz)
6GB (3 x 2GB) 1333MHz tri channel
750GB serial Non Raid (7200rpm)
1GB ATi Radeon HD 5870
24x DVD+/-RW Drive

I wish to purchase a solid state hard drive to increase the performance, by installing it as the boot drive, along with the existing hard drive used for normal use. Can anyone recommend any appropriate SSDs of appropraite size that i can purchase from DELL to carry this out. I have been informed that an SSD is not available for my machine, but I have difficulty beleiving this.

Kind regards

Hi Chris

Thank you very much for the reply. I take it the 256GB size of SSD is the minimum you recommend for the boot drive to contain the OS, leaving my existing 750GB HDD as the drive containing the data.

Would this technically be a RAID array, and if so is it RAID 0 or 1.

I have a technician to carry out the install after I purchase the SSD - is there anything to look out for or in particular to note.

Kind regards
