Vostro 470 - Second Hard Drive? BIOS settings access?
Just received my new Vostro 470 tower. Thought it would be easy to add a second drive, and move on. no such luck,.besides the lack of rails in the second bay .....
Tried to plug in a new Seagate Barracuda ST31500341AS SATA drive and can't even get into the section on SATA drive to change setting, greyed out.
BIOS revision A06 5/25/12. Everything past the Service Date is read-only.
WIN 7 Pro and i7-3770 Operating and CPU
Not looking forward to the phone tomorrow.

Hi Zapped4,
You said you tried to plug in a new drive. I'm not sure if that means you actually plugged it in or you are having trouble. If you were able to plug in the new drive, do you see it listed in the SATA information section of system setup?

dead drive! must have been cooked using an external drive enclosure in past.
got it recognized on older vostro 400, ran seagate dos diagnostics, and got the obit notice.
still under warranty so thats the good news.
