XPS M1330 - MATSHITA DVD+-RW UJ-857G ATA - Window 7 64 Bit
All;
I've got a Dell XPS M1330 with a MATSHITA DVD+-RW UJ-857G ATA DVD installed.
I installed Windows 7 64 bit recently which apparently has no working driver for this DVD unit?
Has anyone found a working driver for this device running Windows 7 - 64 Bit?
Thanks,
Adrian

The driver is a generic Microsoft one and is supplied by the operating system.
Does the drive appear in My Computer? Does it appear in the Device Manager?
In the device Manager, click on the (+) next to DVD/CD-ROM drives. Right-click
the drive and select Properties. Is there an Error Code (number)?

I've attached a screenshot of device manager results.
Devoice Manager reports the device is working properly.

Everything you have posted looks normal. What is the problem you are having with the drive?

Skybird,
It looks like uninstalling the DVD player from Device Manager and letting windows "find" it again allows the dvd player to recognize DVDs again.
That said, Media Direct constantly wants to update the "Blue Ray Player". As far as i know the Matsushita isn't a Blue Ray Player.
Media Direct Version: 8.0.202

The Clone drive (ELBY) is a software that you have installed.
I do not use it and am not familiar with it. I wonder if it
is causing a problem because you are using Windows 7 64-bit.
Check if you have the correct driver installed for that .........

If that is not an issue, it appears to me to be a software
issue with Media Direct.
Perhaps someone will read this thread and recognize what is
happening and offer a solution.
