bios key for array disks

Hi dpopaj,

In this system there is no option to go to RAID BIOS as ‘CTRL + I’ is disabled. The system comes with Intel Rapid Storage Technology which is similar to RAID and it is limited to configuring mSATA SSD

OK I understand you.

I have my Intel Rapid Storage application and I configure RAID on my entire 1TB HDD by mistake.

Now I can't see my HDD. I try to boot system from original Win7 DVD but I can't see my 1TB HDD.

I tried with DISKPART Command line and still can't see HDD.

I try to change in my Intel Rapid Storage application but there is NO option for reconfigure RAID.

My Win7 OS is on 32GB SSD. It is the only disk that I see right now:(

Do you have some idea how to take off my RAID from my HDD disk?

I suspect the Acceleration is enabled.
Steps to disable Intel Smart Response Technology:

Step1. Launch Intel RST UI from system tray.

Step2. Select “Accelerate” Tab, click “Disable acceleration”.

Step3. Click “Reset to available” to reset volume.

In case this does not work, kinldy follow the steps given below:

• Boot to Bios (F2)
• Change Sata operation to AHCI
• Save settings and Exit
• As soon as the system boots up tap the F8 key to go into Advanced options
• Choose option Repair my computer
• Wait for 3 – 5 minutes on the black screen until the system shows up recovery options
• On System Recovery option click next
• On user name / password option click next (if password has been set for primary user please enter the right password)
• On System Recovery Option screen ------> Select Command Prompt
• At Command prompt type in Diskpart
• Type LIST DISK à You should see 2 Disks listed like below

Note down the right DISK number for the next steps. On some systems Msata HDD would be either Disk 1 or Disk .

• Type SELECT DISK 0(Whichever is msata drive)
  • It should say DISK 0 is selected
• Type Clean
  • This should clean the msata HDD
• Type OFFLINE Disk
  • This should make the Disk Offline

    DISK ###	Status	Size	Free	Dyn	GPT
    DISK 0	Offline	29 GB	19 GB
    DISK 1	Online	465 GB	5091 MB

• Type EXIT
• RESTART
• On Restart go into BIOS (F2) and change SATA back to Intel Smart Response Technology
• Click save and exit  and Restart
• Option Rom should pop up – Press Ctrl + I
• Press R to disable acceleration and 6 to Exit
• Boot into Windows Normally

Now you should be able to view the HDD when you try to install the Operation system.

First at all I would thank You for resolve my problem. I finally see the HDD. Thanks.

I must go the other way- from BIOS because I dont have the option "accelerate" in my Intel Storage Tech?  why?

And in my Option ROM after CTRL I  i tried to push letter R but nothing was done.

Nevermind. Right now I am in AHCI mode and I have my 1TB HDD & 32GB SSD. It is OK.

I put Win7 on HDD and my SSD is clean. Maybe I want to make my SSD catching like in factory configuration.

I have no drivers install - clean compjuter.

OK. I'm intalling drivers.

Every driver goes well but when I install Intell Rapid Storage driver and restart my comp i see bluescreen.

I went to my BIOS, enable mSATA Intel Rapid Storage because before I was in AHCI.

Again Option ROM, push CTRL I and the menu is in front of me:

In menu what ever i want to do i cant.  for example: I want to create RAID, I choose raid0, I choose 128kb.. and when

I wont to finaly confirm it says somthing like "choose diffrent volume name with max 16 characters".

I tried to put 20 diffrent names and to change some other options but I really cant do anything.

Again go to Bios and change to AHCI mode but I can not go in my OS.

No way out. I reinstall my Win7 and reinstall all my drivers except Intel Rapid Storage Tech driver.

Right now again in AHCI mode.

Do you have some solution how could I make my entire SSD raid caching with Intel Rapid Storage ot without it?

Hi dpopaj,

From the information you sent it is clear that msata acceleration is already disabled. Since operating system is installed in AHSI mode I suggest you to follow the steps given below since you are getting a Blue screen after installing IRST software.

• Boot into OS in AHCI mode
• Once the Windows Desktop Appears
• Click Start, type Regedit
• Right click Regedit and run as administrator

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorV

Change REG DWORD Values of Start from (3) to (0)

• Close Regedit
• Restart
• F2 – Go into bios
• Change sata mode from  AHCI to Intel smart Response Technology
• Save and exit
• Reboot the system and system should boot into windows without BSOD. You can install the IRST software now and you should not get a Blue screen

If this does not resolve the issue, I suggest you to go into BIOS and change to IRST mode and then do fresh installation of the Operating system.

I request you perform the below given steps once again, as we have tested with these steps and it has resolved the Issue:

   2. Click Enable acceleration under either the Status or Accelerate menu.

1. Select the SSD to be used as a cache device.
2. Select the size from the SSD to be allocated for the cache memory.

1. Select the drive (or RAID volume) to be accelerated. It is highly recommended to accelerate the system volume or system disk for maximum performance.
2. Select the acceleration mode. By default, Enhanced mode is selected.

2. Click OK. The page refreshes and reports the new acceleration configuration in the Acceleration View. Your system is now successfully configured with the Intel Smart Response Technology.

In case you are getting any error message, please reply to this post with the detailed message or the screen shots of the error message.

I am unable to enter RAId as well on my Dell Inspiron 7520 in intel RST  and my drives show no ption to accelerate as well. If I change the BIOs option to AHCI ot ATA iget BSOD

I am everywhere reading this "change SATA back to Intel Smart Response Technology" - what do I do if I don't have it in my BIOS? All I have is RAID and AHCI.

My PC is Dell XPS 8700 (mid 2013). What do I do to be able to enable Intel Smart Response Tech for my BIOS?

Anyone?

Systems that ship with an mSATA cache drive normally come pre-configured with Intel Smart Response Technology enabled. If you do not see that option, please check your hardware to ensure you have an mSATA SSD installed.
