no boot sector on internal hard drive

Hello Guys and Girls,

I am new to the forum in hopes someone may be able to help me!

In an inconsolable rage at my Laptop i slammed the top down, and now when I try to turn my Laptop on it gives me the message -

No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility
Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics."

It every now and then really tries to turn on and I get to the loading screen but it will just stop half way or sometimes I get no where.

I have a Dell Inspiron N5030

I understand I have probably knacked the HDD but I was hoping at least someone may be able to tell me if there is anyway I can retrieve some of the files and information I have on the HDD, as I have a lot of college work I need!

Please Help

Adam

Remove the drive, and mount it into a 2.5" external case:

Attach the drive to a working system and see what you can recover.  You may be able to get at least some data back - if not, there are data recovery services that can probably recover the data, but the cost isn't trivial.
