optical drive failes ejecting CD

Hi,

I can't remove (eject)  CD from th  optical drive of my brand new laptop XPS 14z [Admin note: service tag removed per TOU policy] any more.
The CD is readable. The drive (MATSusHITA/Panasonic UJ8A7 ATA Device) responds to the windows 7 command  (eject) with a sound and tries to eject, but failes.

What can I do?

THanx in advance,

aschuster

Hi,

ich wäre froh gewesen, dies zu vermeiden... keine andere Möglichkeit?

Danke trotzdem,

hi,

I would have been glad to avoid this ... no other way?

Thanks anyway,

Hi aschuster,

Since the system is new, I would call Dell to arrange for a replacement of the drive.

I recommend this course of action for a new system. In all likelihood, the drive needs to be replaced, so you might as well call Dell.
