"Windows does not support this CD-R format

I have a CD-R disk on which I had written some data files. Now I can read those files but when I try and copy more files to the disk, I get the message:

"Windows does not support this CD-R format".

When I try to copy these files to my C: disk, I can't do it. The "Properties" in the "My Computer" disk icon shows 0 bytes used and 0 bytes free. So what is going on?
