video decoder (absence of)
I have a dimension E520, and up untill recently was able to use the dvd player.However, any attempt to play a dvd now brings up an error stating that no video decoder is installed. Any help regarding this matter will be greatly apreciated, as, this machine is my only release from the humdrum tv etc, and i was enjoying the dvd use.

Hi, pogle:
The "video decoder" is just a fancy name for your DVD movie program. If it's not working, try reinstalling it. Or try the free VLC Media Player.
