That's not a DVD drive -- it's your hard drive, which has failed. Hard drives fail for a multitude of reasons - but they're not repairable, so the solution is to replace the drive. If the system is in warranty, run the Dell diagnostics and report the error to Dell (F12 at powerup) If it's out of warranty, you can use any standard 2.5, 9.5 mm or slimmer notebook SATA hard drive as a replacement.
