xps 14z ssd

Hi ive recently got a xps 14z of the outlet upgraded the ram to 8gb and tested all was working fine was runing really fast but upgraded hdd to a 128gb m4 ssd and it took over an hour to install windows 7 and takes probably 10 mins to get to desktop which is the oposite to what should be happening can anyone come up with ideas to fix this thanks

I would at least check Dell downloads for drivers. Here's the manual installation procedure.

Fixed it by installing the latest bios,has worked flawlessly since so now booting to desktop in 10 seconds :)

does the dell manual installation differ from how you would install it normally? i just made sure ahci was set on the sata controller and installed it of a pendrive, ssd has upto date firmware.l have yet to put hdd back in and install latest bios will do it now but do i need to install drivers for anything outside of windows? thanks

Hi bob_711,

Did you follow the Dell procedure for manual installation of the operating system? Are all of the device drivers installed?
