personally I see no reason no to go to the latest SP. I have personally upgraded 4 ECC servers and oversaw another 4 with no mishaps. The SPs are all cumulative, so you can apply SP5 and will get all of the previous patch materials. There are some nice changes in the storagescope function for reporting in SP5 that I didn't notice in SP4 and I'm sure there are more things listed in the release notes.
Make sure you apply the oracle security patch as well. this is a separate download from powerlink.
There is no reason to hold off on applying SP5. Both SP4 and SP5 are very straight-forward to apply. I applied SP4 the day it was released and it was a piece of cake. SP5 was just as easy. Please refer to the release notes for SP5 to get a breakdown for what features each Service Pack added to ControlCenter.
