Hi,

There are available courses to prepare for E20-001 exam.  This link provides an overview of what offereings are available as well as a link to the practice exam.  You may want to take the practice exam and see how you do.  This will give you an idea if there are areas to further study.

Other members of our community have commented on how they prepared for this exam here and here.

To protect the integrity of the Proven Professional program, we don't comment on what specific questions are on the exam.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

Kind regards,
Debi

Hello -

The cost of taking an EMC Proven Professional exam is $200 USD.  Exams can be taken at Pearson VUE testing centers worldwide.

A list of Pearson VUE testing center locations can be found by clicking here.

To schedule an appointment online with an EMC exam voucher or credit card, click here.

To schedule an appointment via phone contact VUE in North America by calling the EMC/Pearson VUE Call Center at 888-889-9058

For regions other than North America you can locate the EMC/Pearson VUE Call Center by clicking here and selecting either Asia-Pacific Region or Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) Region.

The Information Storage and Management book is a great way to prepare for the exam.  You can also view additional materials such as case studies, simulators, etc here.

There is also a practice test available hereThe practice test is intended to provide you with an indication of which areas covered on an exam you are well prepared in and which you may required additional study. Keep in mind that there is a big difference in the environment for taking the practice test (at your own computer) vs. the one in which you take the actual exam (at a testing facility with a proctor present). A pass on the practice test is not a guarantee that you will pass the actual exam but it should give you a good idea of the topics covered and the types of questions offered.

Best of luck to you!

Regards,

Debi

Debi, I was just looking at this thread again and I'm not sure if the answer to one of the questions is really hitting the mark. The question is around the type of questions on the exam. You indicated (and rightly so) that there is no comment on the specific questions on the exam. I think the question was around the type of question (e.g. multiple choice, simulation, essay, matching, etc.) rather than the content. Is that something that you are allowed to answer? I'll let you field that one in case my guess is wrong, but I suspect that that isn't an issue...?

If you still can't answer that specifically than I would just say that anyone can take the practice exam and should be able to feel confident that it is strongly representative of the types of questions and content that can appear in the actual exam. How is that for a round-about (but safe) answer? :-)

The surest way to see the kinds of questions on our exams is to take the practice for the exam that you are interested.  Practice test questions are the same in difficulty and format as proctored exam questions.  In developing exams, we don't distinguish between practice test questions and questions for the proctored versions.  Instead, we create all questions together, divide up the questions into separate, equivalent forms and then assign one as a practice test and the others as proctored exams.

We want our practice tests to be equivalent to the proctored exams so that candidates can determine how well prepared they are to take a proctored exam.  At the conclusion of a practice test, the results provided indicate how well a candidate did on the content areas covered by a practice test and also identify training materials associated with content areas in which a candidate may need to study further.

Candidates sometimes take a practice test multiple times until they achieve a high score on the practice test.  They assume (incorrectly) that a high score on the practice test, after multiple attempts, shows that they are ready to take the proctored exam.  What is more likely to be the case is that the candidate has been sufficiently familiar with the practice test questions to be able to answer these questions correctly.   This does not necessarily translate to correctly answering the less familiar questions on the proctored exam.

Hello Dhyan -

There are no restrictions in our program that would require you to take the E20-001 ISM Exam before sitting for the E20-517 or E20-522.

However, Specialist level certification can only be achieved by sitting for and passing an Associate level exam as well as completing the Specialist level requirements.  So, even if you pass the Specialist level exam, you can not earn certification until you have met the Associate level requirements.

There is some additional discussion on this topic in this thread that you may find helpful.

Best of luck to you!
