iSCSI or Internet SCSI is a protocol for transmitting block-level data over IP-based network. iSCSI encapsulated SCSI data into IP packets that are transported over IP-based network.
iSCSI protocol can be used to transport compute-to-storage data over a SAN. This type of SAN is called IP SAN. IP SAN can be created by leveraging existing IP-based network, which could be beneficial for long distance SAN connectivity.

hi Gopiichand ,
Now a days most of the emc storage is fc based .which storage you are using ? those storage has iscsi connectivity ? May i know which emc storage u are using with iscsi.(name and model no ). is it with cx based product like cx or vnx,or edl?
cx4 or vnx dosen't have iscsi port . you won't get iscsi port on cx storage now a days.is it san (storage area network) or nas (network attach storage) box u using ? .Now a days u might not get iscis port with NAS,CX, symmetrix .
If your one product is iscsi then you have to check your all product should have iscsi port .if one product don't have iscsi port then you have to change your all product like switch, server, storage. In terms of performance FC is faster than ISCSI.
R u suing JBOD at present ?
