IDRAC not responding on R620
After rebooting one of our Dell Poweredge R620 Server in our Server Room,IDRAC7 of this server has fallen into an unresponsive state. The solutions we applied basically are all power drain options and bios and idrac firmware updates.We were able to update the Bios firmware.But we couldnt succeed an update for the idrac firmware.İt seems that idrac chip is totally unreachable. Since then we have tried every possible software based solutions that we could give a try (update packages for windows, flashing from SD card, creating bootable iso via Dell Repository Manager etc) . Update packages methods did not run properly because of IPMI failures. We also can not see a vFlash sd card on bios device settings.Which is normally has a slot in front of the server.The bios does not detect the sd card slot which is used to update idrac and life cycle controller. In short we now have a totally unresponsive IDRAC.No visible sign on front LCD screen or related buttons.As a result after BIOS POST procedure the IDRAC is not initializing and related sytems fans have been working at a maximum speed which cause an incredible sound.
BIOS version updated from 2.2.2 to 2.9.0
IDRAC firmware 1.66.65
Note: We have found an another option to update IDRAC firmware from DOS bootable media via below link but we could not find the non packaged update installation file for our IDRAC. Could you please give us a detailed information about that procedure and which firmware update file we should use?

Hello, actually, as far as I can see, you have already tried a troubleshooting step. There seems to be a hardware problem. You can try to reset the iDRAC with the i button (pressing and holding it for a little over 15 seconds). You can release it when the front LCD turns off. In some cases, iDRAC is accessible after power drain, but you have already tried it. When the iDRAC and the server cannot communicate, the fans run at maximum.
By trying Min2Post, you can provide POST and check the iDRAC again when it is in minimal configuration. If there is still an error, I would think it is a hardware error.
The system does not turn on if any of the following is not properly installed
1 Power Supply
Control Panel with cable (to power system on)
CPU1 (minimum for troubleshooting)
1 DIMM for CPU 1
motherboard
risers
Order to update iDRAC7 Firmware:
1. DELL iDRAC7 v. 1.66.65 (standalone firmware)
2. iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller v. 2.10.10.10 (first release of common firmware)
3. iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller v. 2 .50.50.50
4. iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller v. 2.65.65.65 (latest firmware)
If you download and extract the iDRAC exe file, you will see the "firmimg.d7" file. Specifically, this file contains the iDRAC FW. You can try using this file with the article you mentioned. If there is no fault in the SD card slot, I suggest you try different SD cards.

Cevabınız için teşekkürler. Henüz min2post önerinizi deneyemedik. DOS ortamında IDRAC firmware güncellemesi yapabilmemiz için yürütülebilir bir dosya olması gerekiyor. Örneğin BIOS update için "Flash BIOS executable" adında DOS ortamında çalıştırılabilecek bir güncelleme seçeneği verilmiş, firmimg.d7 dosyaları bu anlamda uygun değiller. SD card modülünün düzgün çalışıp çalışmadığından emin olamadığımız için bu seçeneği değerlendirmek istiyoruz. Ancak gönderdiğim linkte geçen Non-package update dosyasını indirme kaynakları içinde bulamadık.

Merhaba, SD kart içerisine firmimg.d7 dosyası atılıp (veya iDRAC erişilebilir olduğunda aynı şekilde upload edilip) iDRAC güncellemeleri yapılabilmekte o yüzden bu denenebilir diye önermiştim. İlginçtir bende non-package update olarak bir dosya bulamıyorum. Ama iDRAC7v 1.66.65 için bulabildiğim şu executable dosyaya göz atabilirsiniz. Sanki buymuş diye düşünüyorum, denenebilir. https://dell.to/3scnaGR Ancak Dos ortamındaki bootable USB üzerinde çalışıp çalışmadığını kontrol etme imkanım bulunmuyor. Bunu doğrulayan bir dökümana da ulaşamadım. Release notları kontrol ettiğimde vFlash dan ilk boot etme POST kısmındayken mümkün olmadığını belirtmişler belki bu engel oluyor olabilir.
