Hi @JimiDiCapo
Driver update at end user system need system admin access because driver installation requires admin right of the user.
If you hover your mouse on i button next to Driver Updates you can see that message.

Thanks for the information, but then why is the option there to control it for users if it is useless?Also how can admins then use the SupportAssist? RunAs doesn't seem to work as it should

you can control everything from TechDirect that's how SupportAssist for Business design.
if you are new to SupportAssist for Business then please go through with documentation or webinar session.
