Hi Catjack:

Sorry, I just relaized this was an old thread that started in back in 2021.

If you require assistance it would be best if you start a new topic.  Be sure to include the model number of your Dell computer, as well as your Windows OS (include the version and build shown at Settings | System | About | Windows specifications), your current BIOS version (open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to open your System Information panel, and look for the “BIOS Version/Date” field).  Also include the current version of Cell Command | Update listed at Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features and the exact error message shown when you try to update to the latest v4.5.0..

Hi naylormat:

What is your Dell computer model and current Dell BIOS version (open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to open your System Information panel, and look for the “BIOS Version/Date” field)?

The Home and Pro editions of Windows 10 v20H2 reached end of service on 22-May 2022 - see Sergiu Gatlan's 11-May-2022 BleepingComputer article at Microsoft: Windows 10 20H2 Has Reached End of Service. Is there any reason you know of why your Windows 10 OS hasn't already automatically upgraded to v21H2 (currently KB5015807, OS Build 19044.1826, rel. 12-Jul-2022) or why your Win 10 v20H2 OS hasn't been updated since KB4592438 (OS Build 19042.685) was released on 08-Dec-2020?

Even if you're having problems upgrading to the recommended Win 10 v21H2 you should still have still received KB5013942 (OS Build 19042.1706, rel. 10-May-2022) before v20H2 reached end of service.

Since the problem wasn't solved, deleting teh thread might be a better idea.

Google landed me here and it makes Dell support look bad and it isn't. Dell support forums are surprisingly good.

A much better approach would be to link to a good answer elsewhere.

Some helpful steps were:

Update the BIOS.

Uninstall/reinstall Dell Command Update with latest version.

Go to Drivers and Updates page on Dell Support, download and install Support Assist and then go to Drivers and Updates again to allow Dell Support Assist to locate and install drivers. (a workaround, not a fix)

Hewlett Packard has dozens of unsolved problems, but the forum posts that lament HP's myriad issues just sit there....advertisements to HP's indifference once teh sale was made.

Dell does not want to be HP. Not at all. Not in your worst nightmares.
