Dell Update stuck on "SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools" update

Dell Update reports there's an update for  "SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools". When I click Install Now, it looks like it installed, but it reports the same update again an hour later (or immediately if I force update check).

I have this problem on two XPS 13 9550's, and this thread shows five other users (and counting) having the problem on machines including XPS 15, Inspiron 15-7569.

Is Dell aware of this installer bug, and will there be a fix? That notification balloon is really irritating.

Suggest starting a new thread and linking to it from here. This problem has been fixed for many of us, and it looks like the Dell rep isn't getting notifications on this thread anymore.

It might help to start a new thread and link to it from here. The problem is fixed for some of us, and I don't think the Dell rep is getting notifications on this thread anymore.

It's still happening. I've reinstalled Dell Update but no changes. LALALALALLALALA

I used albert1's method to resolve this issue for my XPS13 9350. Six drivers were updated, five automatically and one manually. All went smoothly. The Dell Update notification loop has ceased. Thanks albert1!

Dell dropped the ball on this....

Fix

Download the latest Bios from another computer and place it on a USB

Insert the USB to affected laptop and use F12 to boot to BIOS Flash

Flash the Bios from the USB (tools are inside the system BIOS)

After BIOS flash you need to rebuild the Bios

1. On Startup, press F12

2. Reset Bios to default settings

3. Restart laptop

4. In Bios, select Boot Sequence menu

5. Manually ADD additional line with the name "Windows Boot Manager"

6. Select /EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI

7. Exit

Let me know if this helps

I just bought an Inspiron 17 5000 and I have the same problem.

Could someone from Dell tell us IF they are going to do something or not?

It's now October 2018 and the same problem still exists. Hello? Is anyone alive at Dell?

And again: Issue exists here.

Just uninstalled any Dell Support entry from Windows installed programs manually. After reboot, Dell Update successfully installs the recovery tool. After that when checking for updates it finds the recovery tool again.

@DELL-Jesse L please have a look at this again!
