SupportAssist unxeptected error at hardware scan step [FIXED]
As the title says, every time I use SA to check up on my PC (inspiron 5680) the "an unexpected error has occurred" dialogue pops up. This is at the "preparing for hardware scan" phase, and selecting it individually or using the run all function gets the same problem. It takes roughly 10-15 mins of the "preparing" phase until the error dialogue pops up. Anyone has this problem too and ideas on how to fix it without resetting my pc to factory?
I have tried:
restarting SA, restarting my pc, exiting SA mid-process and running it again (both run all & the individual functions)
Hardware scan is actually called Scan Hardware, but you get the idea.

Hi, thank you for reaching out to us.
Please try the below steps if you have installed windows 10 operating system, this should resolve the issue.
1.Uninstall the Support Assist app from the Start Menu
2.Connect to the Internet
3.Launch the Windows store from the Start Menu
4.Search "Support Assist" (no space) in the search bar and install
5.After installation, maintain the internet connect and launch the Support Assist app from the Start Menu
6.Wait approximately 3 minutes for the SA app to communicate online and Support Assist should then function normally.
If you have installed different operating system, feel free to private message with the system service tag and also let us know if you have performed any other trouble shooting steps. We will check and assist you further.

I have executed the steps you listed and still get the Error message. Are there other steps to "Get Drivers and Downloads"?
