Hi rgupta1220:

What is the build and version of your Win 11 Pro OS shown at Settings | System | About | Windows Specifications? I searched for "22598.ni_release.220408-1503" and that build number suggest you're using a Win 11 Pro v22H2 Insider Preview Build, which might be part of the problem.

What version of SupportAssist is shown at Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features, and is it the same version shown in the SupportAssist interface at Options (gear icon) | About?

SupportAssist reports that my Inspiron 15 5584 / Win 10 Pro v21H2 laptop has SupportAssist v3.10.4.18 and that no updates are currently available ...

Dell SupportAssist v3_10_4 Settings About 23 Nov 2021.png

... but crimsom reported in their 22-April-2022 thread 17 R5, SupportAssist v3.10.4 Blue Screen that they have had multiple BSODs (Bug Check 0xC2: BAD_POOL_CALLER) since SupportAssist tried to auto-update to v3.11.1.18 on their Alienware 17 R5 laptop.

I would personally suggest that you answer "No, update later" if SuppportAssist offers to install any update newer than v3.10.4.18, at least until a Dell employee responds to crimsom's request for assistance and clarifies why this v3.11.1.18 update is only being pushed out to certain computer models and whether it has known issues.

Hi rgupta1220:

I noticed you marked this thread as solved. Could you post back and let us know what you believe is the cause of your repeated SupportAssist update failures?  It would be helpful to other users following this thread to know if you think your Win 11 OS build, a buggy SupportAssist v3.11.1.18 update, or some other issue is causing SupportAssist to try to self-update every time it's launched.

Hi rgupta1220:

Thanks for letting us know that you are having problems updating to SupportAssist v3.11.1.18.

If this version of SupportAssist is still causing problems on your Inspiron 3511 / Win 11 machine and you want to revoke my 25-Apr-2022 post <above> as the solution just click Options (ellipsis) | Not the Solution on that post so that other users following this thread know your problem has not been fixed yet.

I still don't know if you are using an Insiders Preview build of Windows 11 or Windows 11 S (note that Windows 10 or 11 in S mode only allows installation of apps from the Microsoft Store and requires Microsoft Edge for browsing). I don't want to interfere with DELL-Cares troubleshooting, but be sure to post back if DELL-Cares can't find a solution and you require further assistance. My Inspiron 15 5584 still hasn't been offered the SupportAssist v3.11.1.18 update so someone from Dell needs to explain why this buggy update is being pushed out to your Inspiron 15 3511 in the first place.

Hi @lmacri thanks for sharing the connection with my thread.

Warranty and Service Extension says my Alienware 17 R5 is now too old to have a Dell warranty, "Your device has reached the end of service life and can no longer be renewed, upgraded, or extended."

Consequently very interested in possible @DELL-Cares fix/solution.

Apologies to @rgupta1220, I have just removed Solution to encourage more user to user discussion in this thread. IMHO Dell Technical Support should fix their automatic deployment of SupportAssist v3.11.1.18 problem, so that all Dell Community users benefit.
