Compare V-max with DMX technology
Hi Guys,
I just heard so much about EMC V-max that i was quite interested to know how different is this product from the DMX family. All i hear about it is, how it has improved the virtual provisioning. Can someone please help me list down few points in terms of the pros n cons of having the V-Max in the environment.
I would appreciate if someone can guide me to some documents explaining the same. Tried searching the powerlink, but didn't find suitable stuff.
Thanks very much

As you have heard, V-Max is different, but it is also similar.
It still runs the same operating environment, Enginuity, so you will have the same interface and base features you had with DMX plus more.
It is a different hardware platform from DMX.
It has up to 2 times the front end connections of a DMX system
It has up to 3 times the performance of a DMX system
It can be configured with up to about 4 times the usable capacity of a DMX
Have you looked at these?

V-Max provides twice the performance, twice the connectivity, three times more capacity compared to industry-leading Symmetrix DMX-4.
Now let’s talk about how the Symmetrix V-Max series has the ability to increase performance while reducing cost.
The Virtual Matrix architecture of Symmetrix V-Max series allows resources to be dynamically shared to evenly distribute IO workloads to not only provide high levels of performance, but to also maintain predictable levels of performance. The Symmetrix V-Max series delivers more performance to applications what they need it. Improvements such as multi-core processor technology, increased global memory, and high-speed Virtual Matrix architecture interconnects allow the Symmetrix V-Max series to deliver up to 2.6 times more performance compared to the Symmetrix DMX-4.
The scalability of the Symmetrix V-Max series system enables users to do more with less and allows multiple systems to be consolidated into a single platform without sacrificing performance, scale, or functionality.
The consolidation enabled by the Symmetrix V-Max series optimizes performance and reduces cost. The Symmetrix V-Max system can manage more capacity with fewer resources by leveraging common management and functionality across multiple storage tiers. It also helps reduce power and footprint requirements by decreasing the number of systems into fewer frames.
