Creating devices with custom device IDs
Hi,
Do we have an option of creating devices in symmetrix using symmcli with custom device numbers? I would like to create devices from, say 0c50 to 0c58; can I choose these device numbers while I am creating devices with symconfigure? Please help.

Unfortunatly it isn't possible to choose symdev name while creating new devices.
Enginuity (the Storage Operating Environment running inside your DMX) will pick up the first range of available (unused) symdev names while creating new devices. No options right now to suggest desiderd symdevs and no plans to introduce similar features in the short term. Can't say anything on long term decisions.
