How to unset the spc2 bit using symcli

About a year ago we installed a new HP rx8640 running HP-UX 11.31 and using HP VSE virtualization software.  We noticed once we installed the first two VMguests that the disk drives showed up as to separate drives rather than one drive with two paths.  We later found out that we had to set the SPC-2 bit.  We are not able to set this bit on the symmetrix ports because we share these ports with other HP systems that are running older versions of HP-UX so we set this bit on the futer VMguest on a host base using the following command:

symmask -sid ### set hba_flags on C,V,SPC2 -enable -wwn ########1 -dir ## -p #
symmask -sid ### set hba_flags on C,V,SPC2 -enable -wwn ########2 -dir ## -p #

We now need to go back and set this on the first two VMguests.  I created a test VMguest without setting the SPC2 bit.  Then I went back and wrote a procedure on how to set the SPC2 bit and reconfigure the first two VMguest.  Now I want to unset this bit on the HBA's for that test VMguest so I can have someone run through my procedure to see if I missed anything.  Unfortunately I am unable to find a symmask command to unset this bit.  I tried running the same commands abouve and changing the "on" to "off" but that did not seem to work.  Is it possible to unset this bit using symmask?

In all cases, the changed state of these Edit Director flags will not be detected until the host HBA is logged out and logs back into the Symmetrix fibre channel (FA) or iSCSI (SE) port.

Hi Jim,

try this:

symmask -sid ### set hba_flags on C,V,SPC2 -disable -wwn ########2 -dir ## -p

dynamox, I tried your suggestion and when I do a symmaskdb list database it shows it disabled but when I run an ioscan -NfnC disk and then a syminq the SYMID no longer shows up in the syminq.  If I enable SPC2 again and do the same commands it will show up.

i think you still need the C and the V for HPUX ..try the same command only without SPC2 flag.

not sure, you should only need C and V flags for 11.11 and 11.23

How do I force it to logoff and logon on the host side?
