Is it possible to get HBA F/w & Powerpath version details through ECC ?

Hi
Can any one please tell me if there is any way to find out the details of the HBA firmware & powerpath version details on all the host connected to the SAN through ECC or any other tool without accessing the Host?

In FM, go to the upper left block and select the VSAN you want (or "all VSANs"). Then go to the lower left block and select "End Devices". In the upper right you now see the details you can see.

In my switch I can see HBA model, HBA firmware and driver.

The HBA's firmware / driver version can be seen if you log on to the switch and view the port's details. I'm not 100% sure about the firmware, but I'm 110% sure about the driver's version.

The most complete inventory tool I know that will collect as much info as is relevant for SAN connectivity is EMCGRAB / EMCReports. The output of this tool is a complressed file which needs to be fed to HEAT (either you can do it yourself or you need help from youor CE). The HEAT output is an html file with details and recommendations about the host.

But to collect report, you have to access the host.
Plz let me know if you have any tool which can colelct the powerpath version installed in the Hosts connected to SAN without logging into the host.

Though the info seems to be usefull, this doesn't satisfy my needs as Clariion is attched to the hosts.

Please will you be able to provide me the relevant stuff on how to retrieve the Hba f/w details in Connectrix manager & powerpath version details by some other means without accessing the host?

i just looked through a couple of screens in Connetrix manager (8.9.1 on my system) and Element manager ..and unfortunately i does not look like you can get any host related information.

If you have Symmetrix storage (which I presume you do, if you have ECC) you can use a Solutions Enabler CLI query:

symcfg -app list

to obtain details of some of the host software on some of the hosts. It's probably not complete, but will give you a start. PowerPath shows up as "EMCpower"

I don't have any experience with Connectrix Mgr.
And yes, EMCGRAB requires access to the hosts. But it is very thourough !

ECC can gather the PowerPath version if you are running the host agent. I think you have to have the Storage Scope license to get the info, but if you already have it the data will be available in SS.

If you run Storage Scope with Host Agent you can generate a report that shows HBA information including Driver and (for most hosts) Firmware versions.

For some reason PowerPath information is NOT collected (at least as of version 6.0 in ECC) in Storagescope.

One way I've found to check versions is if you have the host agent installed on Windows servers you can go into the "System Information => Services" folder and view the version of PowerPath on the "EMC PowerPath Service" Obviously not ideal, but one quick sanity check. Unfortunately this only works for Windows hosts.

A nice enhancement to ECC would be to gather this information and report on it.

Can you reference the database fields where you pull this information from within Storage Scope? I would love to be wrong on this one :)
