Hi  Yaminikishore

     Appreciate the quick response. I issued powermt check and the dead path got removed. Shall I try issuing powermt check reconfig dev=all command.Hope it is not an intrusive command as it is a production server.

Hi,

Try running the "powermt check" &  "powermt cehck reconfig" commands. This should help in restoring the dead paths.

Hi,

You can run the powermt check reconfig with out any issues. If there is an active path and its not showing up in PP, this command should bring it back to configuration. If this does not help then press Windows' favt button "restart"

Hi Ifthikar,

We faced the same issue 2 days back,

C:\Documents and Settings\eccadmin>powermt display dev=all
Pseudo name=harddisk2
Symmetrix ID=
Logical device ID=02FF
state=alive; policy=SymmOpt; priority=0; queued-IOs=0
==============================================================================
---------------- Host ---------------   - Stor -   -- I/O Path -  -- Stats ---
### HW Path                 I/O Paths    Interf.   Mode    State  Q-IOs Errors
==============================================================================
   3 port3\path0\tgt0\lun1     c3t0d1    FA 10bB   active  alive      0      0

Pseudo name=harddisk3
Symmetrix ID=
Logical device ID=0300
state=alive; policy=SymmOpt; priority=0; queued-IOs=0
==============================================================================
---------------- Host ---------------   - Stor -   -- I/O Path -  -- Stats ---
### HW Path                 I/O Paths    Interf.   Mode    State  Q-IOs Errors
==============================================================================
   3 port3\path0\tgt0\lun2     c3t0d2    FA 10bB   Dead  Dead      0      0

To overcome this we removed the dead path (powermt check) and reconfigured the path(powermt reconfig). No luck, so I have disabled the port on switch and enabled again. It works for me. If this doesn't works for you then reboot will fix this issue.

Hi Vijay / Ifthikar,

If the path is dead and is not coming online on its own even after powermt check reconfig, I would request you to open a ticket with support and provide them the emcreports before you reboot the host. It would enable us to have some information about the problem as we are trying to find out the cause why the path went down and why the PP driver did not bring it up?

Saurabh
