Thank you for your quickly reply. We current have clustered SQL Server in production, and planning to use SRDF/S to replicate the disk to DR site. In the meantime we need set up the DR site SQL server( non-cluster server) instance. My assumption is that SQL Server will be installed on DR machine. Since all the system databases are treated very special in SQL server, I would like to know if we can SRDF/S the system databases specially master over to DR, and bring up the DR SQL Server instance. Any comments are appreciated.
thank you! We try not to use any third party software. My biggest concern is the system databases. I will try to contact Microsoft to see if we should also SRDF the binary(Program files) over to DR. There are lot discussion about move master database cross the servers, not sure if SRDF/S solution will work for SQL Server.
SRDF/S and SRDF/A will work with SQL Server. We use SRDF/CE over SRDF/A with consistency protection with no problem. If your simply replicating SQL, I would install the binaries to a non-replicated volume and only replicate the user databases. Separate TempDB to a different volume as well and don't replicate it.
Sorry. I should have post this message earlier. All the responses are very helpful, and I appreciate very much. To update everyone here, we have fully implemented our SQL DR using SRDF/S, and it works as we expected.
