"Dynamic RDF Capability" means that this device can be converted into an RDF device but because your command is failing ..that tells you that currently that device is not RDF1 or RDF2.

Hi Sumit,
Dynamox already pointed out the issue.Seems the symdev your using is standard raid1 device and first you need to createpair and convert this device to R1 device. Once done you will able to add the device to the rdf device group.

I found out the issue. the device is in a 2-way-mir config :
sympd list|grep 0944
/dev/sdt 0944 05E:0 08C:C1 2-Way Mir N/Grp'd RW 4065
Do i need the change the config now or should i do a create pair between R1/R2 ?

create RDF pair and then add this device to the group.
