VMAX - CLI command to view Storage Group Capacity

Jump to solution

Hi All,

I'm looking for a cli command that will list the total capacity assigned to a storage group. So far the best I can do is see the number of devices in a storage group through cli.

Using smc, you can go to the properties and see the total capacity per storage group, but would like that same function in CLI.

Let me know if any of you has come across this.

Thanks!

I answered my own question 3 years later apparently. symcfg -sid <SID> list -tdev -detail -sg <storage_group> -gb Totals are at the bottom.

I'm thinking that's what I was wanting

symaccess -sid *** list -type storage -name <storage group> -detail -v

I think you can not use -detail option in the previous command.

That command (at least for me) just lists the device count and I don't see where it lists the total capacity in the storage group.

Right...that's what I was trying to avoid. I think it would be nice if it was possible to see storage group capacity before it's associated with the host, to verify the right size & disks are going to be presented.

Thanks for the reply!

why do you call it as "storage group" capacity if it is before getting associated  with a host ?

what's wrong with that ? You add devices to a storage group before or after you assign them to a masking view.
