VMAX - maximum number of active Timefinder/SNAP sessions?
Hi
What is the maximum number of active Timefinder/SNAP session that one can have on a VMAX, to a single source device?
From the documentation, it looks like one can have 16 sessions created, but that one can only have 4 active at a time.
Hope you can help.

From TF Guide 7.2:
"Although a total of 16 concurrent COA copy sessions can be created from standard device, one copy session (two for Enguinity 5875 and higher) is reserved for Restore operations. "
In short, you can 15 COA session plus one session for restore and with Multivirtual snap enabled, you can have 128 snaps from a source device.

Thank you kindly. I suppose that is what is meant by the following extract from the TF product guide:
"
You can run virtual sessions as:
Basic virtual sessions where each virtual session is associated with a single virtual
device and a virtual point-in-time copy. A protection session runs on the source
device for each point-in-time copy. Therefore, you can create a maximum of 16
virtual point-in-time copies of a single source device in open systems
environments. In mainframe environments, you can create a maximum of 8
virtual point-in-time copies. This allows you run full-device and extent-level
copies concurrently on the same device.
Multi-virtual sessions (multi-virtual mode) where a single protection session runs
on the source device for up to 128 virtual point-in-time copies. An additional
protection session runs on each virtual device associated with a point-in-time
copy.
