What is tdev , thin pool and thik pools
Good Day All
dears What is the meaning of tdevs , thin pools and thik pools in Symmetrix and whats the diffrents btween them .

pools themselves are not thin or thick, devices that you create out of those pools can be thin or thin (pre-allocated). Thick devices are the ones created out of traditional "raid sets". If you download Solutions Enabler CD and look at Symmetrix Array Management CLI ..these concepts are explain in great detail.

Hi mohammed,
To be clear, lets consider 4 hard drives of 300GB each. We requested Engineering TEAM to have TDATs of 200GB, then each TDAT will be a part of each hard drive. Thus we will have 6 TDATs. We will create a pool from these TDATs. Now our pool can be thin or thick, based on our own choice. From this thin pool we can create TDEVs of our requirement. for example host requires 100GB Device then Thin Device indicates that devices allocated to host may look like 100Gb but its not exact 100GB, whch is formed from the chunks of POOL.
