Add Disk Drives to a Raid 5 in a R620 using Perc H710 mini
Hi, I currently have a Dell PowerEdge R620 with 2 virutal disks Raid 1 and Raid 5. Raid 5 have 4x600 GB hard drives in it and I would like to add 2 more drives to it. If I useOpenManage and Perc H710 mini...will I lose my data when I reconfigure my Raid. Actually can someone just list the steps that I have to take in order not to lose my data. Greatly appropriated.....

There's a few articles on how to do this. However, you didnt say if the raid 1 and 5 were on the same set of disks (called slicing). if you have both raids on 1 set of discs, you wont be able to expand it easily.
Take a look at this thread:

They are not on the same Raid....I have 2 Raids...now I've plugged the 2 drives in...I can see them under the Physical Disks... and they are "Ready" under State...however I'm unable to see them Under Virtual Disks... I can see 2 disks under Virtual Disk0 (which is my operating system "mirror") and I can see only 4 disks under my Virtual Disk1 (which is my Raid 5) I'm trying to assign the other 2 disks to my Raid 5. I just need to know how to assign them to my Virtual Disk1...Thx. in advance...

My scenario is identical to this... and I'm going to follow it...I've got to the last step but I'm not going to execute it yet. I'm going to wait for my backup tonight. Has anyone ran into any errors. Any chance my data will be damaged ...greatly appreciated.

nee a little help if possible here please...after adding the 2 new 600Gb drives to my raid5 (no problem following the scenario above), it added all the space...see picture bellow...
However when I went into Windows Disk Management I had 2 unallocated disks..one was about 400 GB and on about 740 GB...after I extended my volume it only extended it by 400GB...and left the other 740 as Unallocated. now I'm unable to allocate the rest of my space...The extend Volume is grayed out... any suggestions...please and thank you...
