Alternative to plugin to connect to DRAC5 gui console

Hi there,

What is the protocol used to serve the gui console on the DRAC5? I don't want / can't use the dàmn plugin, due to company policy on my Windows VM, and it doesn't do squat in Firefox on my Linux machine.

Can I use a separate program to connect to it? Plugins are cumbersome. VNC? RDP? Either platform is fine.

Unfortunately, it's java based and you'll have to use the plug-in. There is no other way.

It's not Java, it's a Firefox plugin, and a weird one to top it off. I managed to install the plugin itself (librac5vkvm.so) on my Ubuntu 64bit laptop, thanks to nspluginwrapper; but there's other stuff in the .xpi file which escapes me, including a GTK app and a few faulty shell scripts.

Dell, how about you publish the specs to this console thing, and let the big boys do the programming, instead of this half-assed proprietary, dysfunctional, unsupported abandonware nonsense?

As far as I'm concerned, I had my company spend a few thousand dollars worth of DRAC cards for nothing, and will end up having to buy an external KVM.

Thanks for nothing, Dell.
