Backup Location

Question

I'm trying to locate the location of the backup configuration files in Network Mgr.

After completing switch backups I'm wanting to move those files to a different machine in case of a harddrive failure.

In previous versions the files were located in folders created according to ip address of the switch in the /oware/temp directory.

In version 1.0.1.70 I'm not able to locate the individual backup config files. An exhaustive search of the pc yields no results.

Any idea where these files are kept now?

Network Manager stores the configuration backup files directly in the database. There is a 'temp' directory where Network Manager temporarily places configuration file(s) during the TFTP backup process before the file(s) is/are imported into the database however, this directory gets cleaned periodically by Network Manager. It's advised to export the configuration files directly from Network Manager (see steps below) to the file system for backup purposes versus using the backup files located in the 'temp' directory.  You can export the configuration files from Network Manager after backing them up by completing the steps below:   1. Launch Network Manager 2. Open the Equipment Manager 3. Select the router/switch whose configuration you wish to export to the file system for backup 4. Click on the 'Open' button on the right to open the router/switch 1-1 configuration screen 5. Select Equipment Info -> NetConfig -> Configurations 6. Select the backed up configuration you wish to export so that it's highlighted 7. Click on the 'Export' button on the right to export the highlighted configuration file 8. Save the configuration file to the desired location on your file system 9. Repeat steps 1-8 for all of the configuration files you wish to backup

I'm glad the advice listed above suited your needs. Unfortunately there is no mechanism in place to automate this process. This is a good idea and I'll see that it gets communicated to the appropriate people for possible inclusion in an upcoming release.
